I have been wanting to pass this information along for a while now. After you read the following please let me know if you have any questions.

A simple way to detect low thyroid function:

Purchase a digital or basal thermometer
Before you get out of bed or drink anything
Place thermometer under your armpit for 5 minutes [rectal or oral may be done as well {however, if you experience sinus infections, they raise the oral temperature, then do not take the temperature orally} ]
Record and take the temperature for 5 consecutive days
Normal armpit or oral temperature is 97.8-98.2
Normal rectal temperature is 98.8-99.2
Temperatures below that are suggestive of low thyroid.
