Oral Health Part II

Remember that our whole GI system is connected. Taking care of our mouth takes care of our whole body. Again, I will list a few suggestions from the book “Healthy mouth, Healthy body” by Dr. Victor Zeines.

1. Persistence pays off. A disciplined program of oral hygiene that includes brushing at least twice each day pays great oral health dividends. This can include the use of flossing and a water pick, which can reap benefits as well. This works because it massages the gums. Gum massage is beneficial as well.

2. Consider anything that can improve your immune system like vitamins, minerals & herbs.

3. Valuable tools typically include regular visits to your dentist.

4. Eat high fiber foods like vegetables and fruit. Especially your daily apple!

5. Juice fasts & or cleanses assist in removing toxins from the body. When we remove toxins we therefore, improving oral health & hygiene. Other detoxification methods like skin brushing can also aid in removing toxins.

Oral Health Part I

What some of us don’t realize is that oral health and colon health are connected. This one long interconnected tube that runs from our anus to our lips is one long tube! The general health in one area of our Gastro Intestinal (GI) system is all connected. Today I will list a few suggestions from the book “Healthy mouth, Healthy body” by Dr. Victor Zeines, to support clients in their overall GI Health.  Dr. Zeines gave permission for this information to be used on this site.

What can be done in order to prevent Gum Disease:

Avoid Stress. Stress changes our internal environment. Therefore, these changes are for the worst. Stress can increase harmful bacteria and increase acidity in the body. Acidity and bacteria lend themselves to disease.
Avoid sugars, salt and harmful fats. Pay attention to your body & listen to it. When you do not feel well it may be because what you have eaten may be taking the minerals out of your body. Harmful fats include: partially hydrogenated oils. Sugar has many names the only ones that I eat include stevia & xylitol. Celtic Sea Salt is the only form of salt that I will use for my family & myself. I know that there are a few other types of sea salts but I am not well versed in which ones they are at this time.
Become an educated consumer. The more you know and learn about your own health the more likely you are to implement what you learn. Natural substances can promote healing and prevent disease.

In a very short time I believe I have become a committed green smoothie drinker.

I must confess that I don’t generally eat fruits with anything else. I know that for me in order to have efficient digestion and what is typically suggested is to eat fruit alone. I do my best to follow the rules. For some of you new to greens adding fruits may be the best way to start.

In order to have a tasty smoothie I began to add a banana to my green smoothies. However, I noticed that I had felt tired after having them.

Therefore, my green smoothies have just become fruitless, but an exciting green & red. Hahaha. No more fruit in my smoothies for me. I add in ginger, nutmeg, tumeric & maybe a little cinnamon as well.

The fiber in the blended green drinks for me surpass any juiced drink that I have had. (not including wheat grass)

A typical morning includes a blended smoothie like this one: (all veggies are washed)
8 oz water
1 granny smith apple (without core)
7 stalks of collard greens
1/2 bunch of parsley
1 Tbsp spirulina powder
1/2 cucumber
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1″ piece of ginger root
1 garlic clove
1/2 tsp of cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp tumeric
2 pkts of emergen ‘c’ vit c pkt
L-Glutamine powder
MSM
1Tbsp of pre-soaked white chia seeds in 6 oz water

Often my friends wonder why I am not ever tired. I think doing what I love & drinking my green smoothies have something to do with it. Enjoy! Let me know what you think. I would like to her what works for you.
